11 yrs and counting

Well, we celebrated our 11th anniversary this weekend and it was wonderful. Just to inform you, the kids and I took a vote. Our hero is now named after a hero. Daddy is Batman! Don't tell anyone though, it's a secret. :)

Anyway, with all of the chaos that we were going through at home I was in desperate need for a romantic getaway. I quickly googled just that and ended up with this quaint escape in drumheller. I had booked us a message and a one nights stay in their best most romantic room. Friday night we dropped the kids off at my parents and were surprised that nearly the whole family made it out for a bomb fire and a good ole game of kick the can. It was fun to rehash all of my old hiding spots. I was amazed that I still fit in some of them.

Saturday morning we kissed our kids goodbye and headed on our little escape. Unfortunately when we showed up they made a mistake and didn't book our message. Being the nice people we are we held our head high and let it go. We then headed up town for some pizza and dessert. It was the best escape ever! The two of us sitting back in this huge king size bed with a jetted tub eating pizza and cheese cake. No kids hollering no phones ringing, no loud music and no screaming neighbors.

Of course we couldn't end there....in the morning, we headed for the most laughable game of golf ever! Have you ever heard of anyone loosing 15 balls on an 18 hole game? Well, we did it. Actually, it was 18 balls. It was quite the game. I am super sore and am even having a hard time moving the mouse. Needless to say, my first game of golf must have been a lucky one cause boy did I suck on my second one.

So, we headed to the parents picked up the kids and went home. At home we realized the cat had been locked in the girls bedroom all weekend. One bed was used as a littler box and one bed was used as a bed. Piles of laundry, bedding included, a bedroom that still needs to be mudded, and needs a door, a lawn that needs mowing and kids that need reinforcements and I am so glad I got my one night away.

Down to one

Mom took Ginny, Grandma took Keegan so it's down to just Malakai and me. It is amazing the stuff you see in your children when it is just them by themselves. malakai let me sleep in till 9:30 this morning. What a treat! Then we sat down and enjoyed a bowl of the new vanilla rice crispies. What did I learn? I learned that he loves this new cereal and that he loves to chat. I learned that he loves to make hide outs and play all by himself. I learned that a fly and the garbage truck are very interesting to him. I learned that cartoons aren't on his favorite list after all. I learned that one on one time is the best treat of all.

Much needed random blogness

Well, needless to say I made it. I made it through the heat wave and I made it through three quarters of the summer. The sad part is that after the never ending winter we went through I was looking so forward to this summer. However I never anticipated the pace that it was going to take. Now, it seems as though it is slipping through my fingers and I don't even have a tan to say that it was here. How sad it that? Well, here is where it went.

I unfortunately had to say goodbye to my facebook. I am over it now but it took some time. I refused to get rid of my blog though. Whats next? No internet altogether? I shouldn't joke I did that once and look where it got me.

The now "online unmentionable" is doing really well with his journey. Yesterday he came home really discouraged because he thought he failed his interview but God was watching our for him immensely and he passed. Onto yet another step.

My 13 yr old niece came to live with us. It is a blessing to have her here. She already has her favorite line that she thinks gets her anything she wants and she even has her own nickname.

The new addition to our family led to us redesigning Ginny's bedroom so the girls could share it. Thus we ended up moving the boys to the smaller room.

We are redoing our bedroom for the purpose of soundproofing it so that the "unmentionable" can work nights and not be woken up by kids flying down the hall of our cardboard box mobile home. It is so funny seeing the reactions when you tell people that you are sound proofing a room. Of course they always conclude you are doing it so you can do your.....laundry. :<) One thing learn t. I can not use a drill, and I can not measure worth a hill of beans either. I can however cut a cat door. I didn't say it was straight though.

So, can you visualize it? my house is a shambles. Dry wall mud, dry wall chunks, Styrofoam chunks, screws, toys and just plain junk EVERYWHERE! This being an organizational freaks nightmare I am not sleeping so well.

We did however find the time to invite some friends over on various occasions. We hit up the big K days and got rained/hailed out. We went down to the river one day, did some buggin here and there and got so muddy that our online unmentionable was unidentifiable. We even fit in a buggin weekend with just us and the kids. My sister in law came up with her two girls so we spent a weekend of heat and pooling with them. But we are not done yet...we still have a night planned in drumheller for our anniversary, and of course more buggin.

You know what? I needed this. I needed to see that it hasn't been a waste of a summer at all. It has been a busy one but definitely a fun one. For as many times that I say definitely I should figure out how to spell it. I also need to come up with a real stealthy name for the online unmentionable. Any ideas? Anyway, enough of my randomness. I am off to help my sister clean her house.
