The greatness of Alberta
I heard of this province once or twice called Alberta.
Alberta has no set rule. For example in Alberta it can actually snow in the month of July. Seriously.... no joke.
And you know how a child waits for weeks until there is enough snow to make a snowman? Well in Alberta it is very rare that it is actually sticky enough to make one in the first place.
In fact I was just informed this evening (from a very reliable source) that even in spring when the wind is blowing and it is the best time to fly a kite, it can actually be too windy. What kind of fun is that?
I don't know, I mean who on earth would want to live in alberta? :<)

My creation
I am very proud of myself. Ginny needed a bag for AWANA and I was in a crafty mood so I googled quilted bag and came up with a picture similar to this one. Since all I could find was a picture I figured out my own measurements added my own unique braided handles and presto! This is the bag I made in a matter of 3 hrs give or take.

The Water Horse Adventure

I can't give you our review until you take a walk in my "Water Horse" adventure. While Ginny was taking a road trip with Nana and Opa the boys and I decided to make a date of our day. We left Home around 11:30 to meet daddy for lunch. Though we didn't get a tour due to how busy it was we did get to see the cars coming in and some very important people leaving.
From there we hurried off to the theater. The first mistake I made was thinking the movie started at 12:50 when really it started at 12:40. After taking 10min to find a parking spot we finally made it inside only to find a huge line up. Of course we couldn't take the express machine route since I was using coupons. After a 15min wait listening to Keegan get all flustered about being late we finally made our way over to the popcorn line which was also a mile long.
Finally we entered the theater. It was pitch black and the movie had already begun. Of course I had to enter at the most scariest part in the movie. Picture this... Here I am with my hands full of goodies and I have two kids chanting over and over again "mommy hold my hand, mommy I'm scared. I finally got everyone situated and gave them their treats. Malakai was literally shaking with fear as he stared wide eyed watching something making all kinds of crazy noises hiding and running through out a work shop. The only thing I could do was remind them that they knew what it was and that if they wanted to they could close their eyes. That didn't really help seeing as the sounds were actually what was scaring them the most.
When the part finally ended they had a few laughs and got a little more comfortable. I was however a little surprised through the whole film. There were times that I was worried about the soldier stuff but then when it came to other parts those soldiers were the least of my worries. I remember thinking at one point. "wow, this is almost like Jurassic park". There was one part in particular with a puppy (that Malakai took a liking too) I kept repeating over and over in my head "don't eat the dog, don't the dog".
At the end of the movie both Malakai and Keegan responded with "That was scary" Keegan really liked it though. I realized that we have some very serious issues seeing as his favorite parts all consisted of the army.
All in all I thought for sure that we were going to be dealing with a night of massive nightmares but I was wrong. Malakai did however wake us up to say that he had to go pee and he was scared to turn on the light.
From what we didn't miss the only time magic was really mentioned was the fact that this "monster" was a legend and some said it was magical. It came from a egg etc....There was one instant where the water horse was asked to use his magic but he never did. It was a real action packed boys movie and I am sure it wouldn't be as scary as it was for my 8 1/2 yr, old seeing as a shadow still tends to scare him.
However I do believe if this was the dead of summer and we were watching this movie I think all fishing would come to a serious halt and and there would be no talk whatsoever of going in the boat let alone swimming in the lake.
All in all we give the Water Horse 3 batman symbols out of 5

I am Legend
I had to be the first to say that I caved and just finished watching I am Legend. I put everything I had into this years drama and in return I received 2 free movie passes. We shipped the kids off for the night and then argued whether to see P.S I love you or I am legend. Needless to say I lost. For the record.....I do not go to the theater to watch scary movies. I would much rather sit in the comfort of my chair with my blanket just under my eyes and my knees curled up to my chest. Instead tonight I sucked it up. I sat right in front by the bar with my knees curled up to my chest and my jacket curled up under my eyes. I jumped so many times, I screeched so many times and I can honestly say that I was not the only one. All I can say is I do not want to turn out my lights and I made my body guard check every nook and cranny. Yes I am a woose but even my body guard admits that there were parts that were scary. All said and done the Unmentionables give I am Legend 4 batman symbols out of 5.

Boys vs. Girls (part one)

Everyone puts in their orders to God when they find out they are pregnant. Please God let it be a boy or vice versa. Believe it or not God answered our order each time. First we wanted a boy then we wanted a girl. Wow! after a year of a girl we prayed real hard for another boy. Now that our two boys are seven and three, I found myself wondering how God actually thought I could handle two of the little creatures. Bringing up boys is a book that I have picked up in a desperate state to understand my two boys a little bit better. It's funny how these two different sexes are staring you in the face day after day and all it takes is a simple book to really put it into perspective. I highly recommend this book for anyone with boys. I am only on Chapter 2 so I can't speak for the whole book yet but already it has widened my view. It makes so much sense now when they tear apart my house to make a fort or when one of them is silly the other has to top it off with something sillier. I am now learning to sit back and observe rather than be the mother who always natters and ruins the fun. The trying part is when the sweet little princess in the middle tries to be just like them. Now I am just thankful for the material to figure them out.
