A little of this ..... A little of that

~ Fist and foremost, Blaine got a little bonus from work and since my camera just died I get a new one for mothers day. I found this one and was so disappointed that it was a little over our limit. Turns out, in just 2 sweet days it will be on sale for a $100.00 off. Yeah I am so pumped.

~ Ginny has allergy's again. This time they want to run some tests. I just hope that in the long run she can actually get help with her allergies unlike me when I was a child. Maybe it had something to do with the doctor who stole my sucky thumb after I burnt my hand. I really disliked doctors after that.

~ Mike this one is for you, David Beckham is in town. All I have to say about that.

~ Blaine is so stoked about training lately. Lets just say a man in a car, in reverse at 100k. I guess this is soooo appealing.

~ Last but not least.... Malakai comes in while I am doing my hair to go to Ginny's appointment. He has this huge smile and those really, really excited eyes. "Mom, I started your truck" he says. "You what?" I answered (a little panicky.) I quickly looked him in the eyes and asked "Malakai, where are mommy's keys?" He answers with "in the truck mommy, I started it for you." Sure enough I run outside to find the keys in the ignition in the forward position. No engine running but a very close call. All I could picture is me in the bathroom hearing this huge crash and running out to see my truck in the living room. Not a pretty picture.

"ohhh, Jammies"

lately my brain has turned to mush and I am forgetting people, places and times. Blaine tries to reassure me that it's just because we have so much going on right now. My plan .... I am going with Blaine's assumption. After all, I am not that old!

One of these instances in particular was just last Friday when I forgot I was to pick Erin and her friend up at the tri leisure at 8pm. By the time it dawned on me it was 8:15 and we were down a block visiting Blaine's uncle. I made a mad dash home to the truck with Malakai following screaming "I wanna come, I wanna come." The whole way Malakai was chatting about Erin and what she was doing and going swimming. He kept chatting, the whole drive, through the parking lot and into the tri. Obviously I was in a hurry because I was doing a brisk walk while he was trailing behind, chatting away. As we were walking, we passed these two ladies that were all dressed up standing in the middle of the entrance way. Next thing you know I hear Malakai say "oh, jammies" sheepishly. I turned around to observe what was going on.

There was Malakai in his pajama top with rain pants and Ginny's pink and blue rubber boots shrugging his shoulders. The women looked so startled that I had to laugh myself. Then as I looked at the ladies I shocked myself by saying... "boy he sure knew what you were thinking huh? One ladies jaw actually dropped.

Can you believe it though? Who knew that 4 yr olds were so in tune with others observations of themselves. "oh, jammies." I still chuckle.

God works in washing machines

Since Blaine has started his new quest we have had to financially adjust our lifestyle again again. Just when I thought that we had no more room for adjustments everything seemed to fall apart. On Saturday Blaine needed to take apart our washing machine because it was screaming like a jet plane every time it was in the spin cycle. After 3 hrs of working on it he discovered it was the bearing but was unable to get it out. Then on Sunday our check engine light went on in our truck. I was determined to make our Monday better by getting the tools Blaine needed and finding out why our check engine light was on without spending a ton of cash.

My plan failed miserably. The puller that we needed was no where to be found. Either that or they were withholding it so we couldn't save money. I then found out it would cost $600.00 for them to come and fix it. Might I add... this machine is only 1 1/2 yrs. old. So much for Maytag. The truck.... $150.00 just for diagnostics. Needless to say I was desperately calling out to God when my morning was done.

After getting groceries I came home to my dad waiting to help me unload and..... waiting to take me to buy us a new washing machine. He had no idea what we were quoted. He had no idea we were at the end of our rope. He just knew we were having troubles with our washer and wanted to help out. 2 hrs later my dad and I were hauling a huge top of the line washing machine by ourselves into the house.

It was hard to except this most generous gift. I was more than willing to get a cheaper than cheap model but he wanted to get us the best. More than anything it made me realize how selfish I am when it comes to my time and help for others. Sure I have done the good Samaritan thing here and there.

My father though, is a great example of how we should be. He is always painting the church for free, he is always helping my siblings out, and never does he remind them that they still owe him. He is always driving everywhere without questioning the price of gas or the amount of time. He even gave up his holiday money for us to wash our laundry. Who knew that one washing machine could teach me such a life lesson.
